About This Test The Albumin/Creatinine Ratio (ACR) measures the amount of albumin (a protein) against creatinine in a single, random urine sample. Even small amounts of albumin leaking into urine can signal early kidney damage — often before other signs or symptoms appear — making this one of the earliest and most sensitive markers of kidney disease. Who This Test Is For - Anyone with diabetes or high blood pressure, both leading causes of kidney damage - Patients with a family history of kidney disease - Anyone whose provider wants an early kidney-function screen - Individuals monitoring existing kidney disease or its progression What to Expect & Preparation Preparation: No fasting required. Avoid drinking excessive water before collecting your sample. Your Visit: This is an at-home collection kit. Book online or stop by, then collect your sample in the privacy of your own home and ship it back using the prepaid label provided. If you're also ordering other Access Medical Labs tests, all samples must ship together. Turnaround Time: Results delivered to your secure patient portal within 2 business days of the lab receiving your sample. Things That Can Skew Your Results: Urine albumin can run temporarily high for reasons that have nothing to do with kidney function — a urinary tract infection, fever, blood in the urine, congestive heart failure, or a tough workout in the last day or so. Let our staff know if any of these apply so it can be factored into your results review. If you pay online and later realize you have an employer code or third-party payment, no refunds will be issued—store credit only. Recollections: If blood work is delayed, lost, or needs recollection, we will recollect your sample for free. Cancellations & Rescheduling 24-hour cancellation notice required.
