Apolipoprotein Evaluation (ApoA1 & ApoB) Specimen Type: Blood | Fasting: 12 hours | Results: 6–8 business days What It Is Standard cholesterol shows how much cholesterol is in your blood. The Apolipoprotein Evaluation looks at the particles carrying it and whether the balance is working in your favor. This test includes: • Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) • Apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) • ApoB/ApoA1 Ratio ApoB marks every particle that can lodge in artery walls and form plaque; one ApoB equals one potentially harmful particle. ApoA1 is the backbone of HDL, the particles that pull excess cholesterol out of circulation. The ratio compares harmful to protective particles, and the higher the number, the more your arteries are exposed. Lipoprotein(a) is not part of this test, but our team can add it to the same draw. Who It's For Providers often order this evaluation with a routine cholesterol panel, or as a next step when the panel doesn't explain someone's risk.
