Service Description
CA-125 Test Specimen Type: Blood | Fasting: Not required | Results: About 2 business days What It Is This test checks CA-125, a protein that may rise in the blood with ovarian cancer and several non-cancer conditions. This test includes: • CA-125 Providers mostly use CA-125 to follow treatment, check for recurrence, or add information for women with a higher risk. Periods, endometriosis, fibroids, pregnancy, and pelvic inflammation can all push it up too. Important to Know On its own, a tumor marker can't confirm or rule out cancer. It can go up for reasons unrelated to cancer, and some cancers never raise it. This test isn't a substitute for the screenings your provider recommends. If you're having symptoms or your number comes back high, your provider is the right next step. Who It's For This test is most helpful for: • Women with a family history of ovarian cancer who want a baseline • Women whose provider is tracking CA-125 during or after treatment • Anyone whose provider asked for CA-125 Want more markers in one draw? Our Women's Basic Tumor Marker Panel adds CA 15-3, CEA, and a metabolic panel for $115. What to Expect Preparation: No fasting required. CA-125 can run higher during your period, so schedule outside your period if you can.
